Zettascale Ireland is developing a proposal for large-scale AI computing infrastructure in Ireland, connecting renewable energy, advanced technology and industrial expertise.
Our ambition is to establish an Irish-based, European-controlled AI platform that supports research, enables enterprise and strengthens Europe’s capacity to develop and deploy advanced artificial intelligence.

Ireland has an opportunity to connect its energy resources, research talent and international business community with the computing capacity that the next generation of AI will require.
Zettascale Ireland aims to bring these strengths together through a proposal for participation in Europe’s AI Gigafactory programme.
Our approach
We propose AI infrastructure located near suitable renewable generation, with power supply, grid integration and computing demand planned together. Our aim is to support reliable AI services while creating long-term demand for Irish renewable energy.
Our ambition is to give businesses, researchers and public bodies greater access to advanced computing under European ownership and control, with security and data governance built into the platform’s design.
The proposed platform would support innovation in areas such as life sciences, advanced manufacturing and energy, while opening opportunities for Irish enterprises, research institutions and technology specialists.
By providing long-term demand for renewable electricity, we aim to help new energy projects secure finance and move towards construction. Where technically feasible, flexible AI training workloads could respond to grid conditions, easing demand during local peaks.
The consortium
Zettascale Ireland is bringing together the expertise required to develop, finance and operate AI infrastructure at scale.
The consortium’s proposed capabilities span energy, engineering, computing systems, cloud operations, cybersecurity, finance and AI applications.
Our focus is on building a credible delivery model that connects infrastructure investment with the needs of future users.
